Class Descriptions

Pre Natal
Pre Natal Aqua Aerobics is a gentle exercise class especially designed for the expectant Mum. Classes are held in shallow water and exercising in water is ideal for pregnant women because water helps you to support your body weight. It also reduces the risk of stress-related injuries, and the compression of the water is soothing on joints and muscles that are stressed by the added bulk of your pregnancy. The water's temperature also keeps you from overheating during your workout.

Parent and Toddler

These sessions are taught by a qualified swimming teacher who leads the class and introduces parents and children to activities that will build water confidence in young children. The emphasis is on fun in the classes. Parents accompany the children in the water during these sessions.

Swim Inc
Swim Inc (or Swimming Inclusive in full) is a programme for 5-10 year old children with disabilities in the Limerick city area. It is developed to teach skills conducive to participating in adapted sports sessions in a fun and supportive environment.
Swim Inc arose from a need identified by a local Physiotherapist and Sports Scientist, both of whom specialise in adapted physical activity and have working knowledge of what is available in Limerick for this target group.

Our Swim Development Co-ordinator, Ciara O' Sullivan has worked with this initiative since it commenced and now oversees the programme. students of the Physical Education and Sports Science degree programmes volunteer to ensure that Swim Inc. continues to prove a great success.
